I want to encourage everyone to consider participating in the NACDD Cancer Council Mentoring Program, which seeks to match up peers to provide additional technical assistance for cancer program staff. We especially need mentors right now. If you have been in your position for a bit, please consider signing up as a mentor! The mentors and mentees work together to establish your preferred way and frequency to connect. Below are the forms to become a mentor or mentee:
If you know of someone who you think would be a good mentor, please reach out to them directly and encourage them to participate as well!
We try to match mentees to mentors based on program and the specific support the mentee is requesting. Support available:
- Administration-budgets, fiscal stuff, contracts, etc.
- Programmatic-EBIs, data, evaluation, workplans
- Partnerships-Coalition support, workgroup/committee support, recruiting partners, etc.
If you have questions about the program, please feel free to reach out and ask! I have served as a mentor to a few mentees over the years and would be happy to talk more if you have any questions. Iris Zachary (zacharyi@health.missouri.edu) is the current member of the NACDD Cancer Council Leadership Team who is managing the mentor program. You can also always reach out to the NACDD Cancer Council staff. Thank you for your consideration to participate in this important program!
